The Rose by Jon-Lock The Rose by Jon-Lock
I did my best. This was a challenge for me...I had a hard time trying to think of a design for the beast, the beast being the female of course. Haha the more and more I started drawing her the more it started looking like the faun from Pan's Labyrinth. OTL I do have another pic of her with sort of a different design on my tumblr. The color scheme isn't all that different tho. The composition of this scene was based off of the part where Belle first meets the Beast and wishes to see his face. But, here the situation is where the beast almost kills the young man only to see that he isn't really afraid of her. She eventually offers him a rose. It was the first time in a long time a person has gotten so close to her. This is their moment.

Being a guy, the concept of a gender bended version of the classic tale always fascinated me.

Is it just me, or does genderbending all these princess stories make everything so much better?

I freaking love this. Everything about it is beautiful. And his expression, oh my God... And her hair... :O
I love the colours and shading, too~!
(She actually does remind me a bit of the faun from Pan's Labyrinth, but that's a good thing 'cause the faun was epic).

Once again I'm asking you this - why are you so good at everything~? :333

This is beautifully done and the context of the scene really pulls it all together for the imagination. Things like this are what I love most about this website. Much praise and love! Keep it up! <3

I love how you did this scene, the expressions on their faces and the red glow that just emanates from the rose. :3  It really captures the initial gloom and solemn feelings at the beginning of the story.  I must say, I really love your work.

There really seems to be a double standard on these sorts of things, whether it's books, movies or games, human girls hooking up with monstruos looking guys isn't that uncommon. Yet the moment this is reversed people start shrieking "Furry!!!"

I guess it's been going on for so long for a lot of different reasons, one of them being that old fable about females being able to see beyond the physical and love a man for his mind and personality, and somehow men are incapable of this as we all know that all men are pigs who go for nothing but appearence, should a man even attempt to express some sort of attraction towards a female such as the one in this beautiful piece of art, he must obviously be some sort of sexual deviant who can't surpress his urges to molest animals.
